Fall Detox Diet

Although spring is the key time for detox, autumn is another important time to cleanse. Decreasing light and colder temperatures slow our metabolism, plus we have a tendency to eat fattier foods in colder temperature.

2. Instead of the herbs milk thistle, artichoke and dandelion, use traditional fall herbs that can detox and prepare the body for winter. Although these herbs are generally considered gentle, they cleanse the blood and lymph and can therefore be quite potent to some. Please consult your holistic health practitioner before using these herbs.

Burdock nourishes the body while it cleanses the blood, lymph, liver, and kidneys. It is a blood purifier. Nettles are full of nutrients such as iron, vitamin C, and silica and can clear toxins of all kinds.

3. Instead of lemon water in the morning, add the juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/2 cup unsweetened apple juice to a glass and dilute with water. Drink an 8 ounce glass every morning.
